Nationwide, around 20 million people suffer from chronic pain, estimates the German Society for Pain Therapy. Chronic back and head pain are the most common types of pain that affect sufferers.

Most often, the cause of pain is: an imbalance in the musculature.

Pain is a bodily sensation that is vital. It signals that the body has been damaged. The acute pain stimulus causes the person to react reflexively to protect themselves from further damage.

More than 20 years ago, the Berchtesgaden naturopath Burkhard Hock developed the Hock Method as an extension and supplement to Dorn therapy and has since trained more than 6000 doctors, naturopaths and physiotherapists in this scientifically based manual procedure.

The focus is on the iliosacral and jaw joints: If they are not in their physiological position, this affects the entire surrounding musculature - a pain cycle develops.

This means: If a muscle to be treated is shortened on one side, it is usually overstretched on the other side.

With defined pressure, the therapist works on the muscle that causes pain and achieves a reflex relaxation. He treats the pain receptors with his fingers before giving the patient special and individual stretching exercises.

"Hock pain therapists no longer ask their patients: Where does it hurt, but rather: During which movement does the pain occur or worsen?"

In about 95 percent of cases, says Hock, the patient is already more mobile and pain-free after the first hour.

Therapists can now make life easier for patients and themselves. For his method, Burkhard Hock has developed a unique navigation system so that pain therapists can now get straight to the point.
